What A Bagel! – Toronto

by on Oct.17, 2013, under Beer, Cafe, Free Wi-Fi, Restaurants, Roof Deck/Patio, Salad, Toronto, ON - Canada

Stopped in to What A Bagel! for a quick lunch. It’s a popular spot for folks working in the Toronto fashion district as it’s top quality food and fast service.

They have an extensive list of sandwich (on a bagel) and salad (with a bagel) options! I went with the arugula salad topped with chicken (sans bagel) and my friend tried the burger with sweet potato fries.

It’s a casual spot but worth a stop if you’re in the need of a quick bite to eat! Also if you’re from the states you’ll be able to take advantage of their wifi to stay connected with e-mail and online travel plans.

Table side discussions also revealed if you visit on your birthday with proof of ID you’ll walk out with a dozen bagels of your choice!

VICTOR – Le Germain, Toronto

by on Oct.16, 2013, under Dessert, Free Wi-Fi, Restaurants, Stay Here If You Can, Swanky, Toronto, ON - Canada, Vegetarian, Wine

Victor restaurant was a pleasant surprise for my stay at Hotel Le Germain in Toronto, it really held up to the five star experience the hotel gives.

They offer a tasting menu and al la carte, as well, if you are headed to the theater they have an option that will give you the full experience with a faster turn around.

We ended up ordering a few options across the menu so we could have a variety of tastes throughout the evening.

‘Little Portugal’ Lobster and Chicken Cataplana, chorizo, rice and saffron

‘Les Miserables’ Duck Breas ‘Al’Orange’ Pomme fondant and carrots.

Sushi Pizza 2013! Sashimi, lobster salad, roe, avocado, crisp rice and wasabi-miso dressing.

Seasonal Vegetable Casserole

The night finished with a tasty takeaway left by our waiter of caramel covered popcorn squares.

The space is small and gets really busy as the night goes on, I highly recommend making a reservation at Victor Restaurant in Toronto’s Hotel Le Germain so you can ensure you’ll be able to get in.

This branch of the Oliver and Bonacini group is located in the financial district of Toronto. The restaurant consists of a bar, sidewalk cafe, restaurant and outside covered dining area.

Light fixtures in bar are really funky.

Outside was also very pleasant.

Tuna was very good.

So was the salmon .
I also had brunch here which was excellent.
Once again the staff at all the restaurants I visited in Toronto were really good and mostly very funny. The guys here were great.
I will definately go back if I find myself in Toronto again.

Origin Toronto

by on Jul.22, 2012, under Champagne, Chicken, Egg Breakfast, Gluten Free, Hamburger, Irish Coffee, Mimosa, Roof Deck/Patio, Salad, Toronto, ON - Canada

Origin is located in the St Lawrence district of Toronto which is on the edge of the financial district. The location is quite cool as it is opposite St James
Cathedral .

Only ha brunch here on the patio but the interior of the restaurant looks very funky.

Especially like the Darth Vador mask.

The brunch was excellent. My hamburger was really good. The only downside was the cost 17 dollars.

Rancheros were good but different from what you might expect .

The bill was rather expensive maybe due to the fact that we ordered mimosas and there was no price on the menu.

I really liked the food and the location and service was excellent but very pricey for a brunch.

L’Express Montreal

by on Mar.12, 2012, under Champagne, Montreal, QC - Canada, Octopus, Sole, Steak Frites, Wine

This Montreal institution is located about a 10 dollar cab ride from downtown on Rue Saint Denis

The restaurant is very traditional no Wi-fi here. Just what you would expect from a place that has been around for a long time.

No frills but this pate was great.

So was the octopus.

Of course the steak frites was very good. Not my usual type of place but the champagne prices were the best that I found in Montreal. In fact some of their bottles were as cheap as the liquor stores. To make a reservation

XO Hotel Le St James Montreal

by on Feb.14, 2012, under Bellini, Champagne, Chicken Club, Cocktails, Free Wi-Fi, Irish Coffee, Montreal, QC - Canada, Music, Salmon, Swanky, Wine

Another one of my favorite hang- outs in Montreal

On my last visit I spent a lot of time perched at this bar working on the development of the Supershag Empire

The restaurant is very grand but I have never felt out of place in my jeans and t-shirt.

The food is great. The bread is brill.

I always have a latte in a large bowl with a straw and Jamesons . The perfect Beefoe latte. The one that I had here was so good that I forgot to take a here is the chicken club.

Salmon was pretty good as well.

Always worth a visit.

Cavalli is located on Peel Street in the heart of downtown Montreal . This restaurant actually turns into a club at on a Saturday night.

The place is very swanky and the ambience and music are obviously very club like.

We brought a large group so we sampled a lot of food.

Tuna tartar was excellent.

As was the salmon .

Octopus also got 2 thumbs up.

Sea bass main course was fantastic.

Filet mignon was ordered rare nut arrived almost medium.

Swordfish and clams were excellent.

Tuna looked great and tasted ok as well.

Hotel Gault Montreal

by on Feb.14, 2012, under Montreal, QC - Canada, Stay Here If You Can

My fav hotel in Montreal.

Located in the heart of Old Montreal I believe the building was a YWCA at one time.

The hotel is very small and the rooms have a very loft like feel.

The level if service is fantastic . Nothing seems to be too much for the staff.

The hotel is dog friendly , has a small gym ,is very contemporary but retains a certain old world charm.
