Gusto Toronto

As in Buenos Aires ,Gusto , which opened in Feb 2012 is located in an old auto body repair shop.
The restaurant is located on 2 levels . Downstairs has an outside patio and indoor dining. Upstairs is totally open air.
The food while not gourmet was very good.
Beef tartar was served with figs and was very different but very tasty.
The place is extremely hip and it seems that dress code is whatever you want.
I really enjoyed the place and re staff were excellent.

Reynards at the Wythe Hotel
by supershag on Jul.06, 2012, under Beer, Champagne, Cocktails, Free Wi-Fi, Hamburger, Happening, Lamb, New York, Roof Deck/Patio, Wine
The Wythe Hotel has been getting some rave reviews recently in magazines that matter. Located in Williamsburg it is a bit out of the way and not in the most desirable place .It is however well worth the trip for a couple of reasons .
The food is very good and very different.
Arctic Char was served sushi style with yoghurt giving it flavor . Sounded really awful to me but it actually really worked.
The lamb special once again had a lot of exotic combinations none of which I now remember but it was delicious.
The actual restaurant is very cool but unfortunately the acoustics are pretty awful.
The dress code is very casual. If however you did want to dress up you would not feel out of place.
While the wine list is good the beer list I pretty stellar.
If you are lucky enough to visit between Wednesday and Sunday you really do have to visit the roof-top bar.
The view of Manhattan is spectacular and the music is loud.
Definately check this place out if you are in Brooklyn. To make a reservation
Americano at Hotel Americano New York
by supershag on Jul.05, 2012, under Bellini, Champagne, Cocktails, Coffee, Free Wi-Fi, Irish Coffee, New York, Parking/Valet, Roof Deck/Patio, Salad, Steak Frites, Tartar
Americano is located in the Hotel Americano which is a new boutique hotel in the west village .
Nothing very out of the ordinary in the layout of the place. Usual chrome ,glass minimalist look. It does however have a very pleasant small outside patio.
The food was excellent and well priced for new York.
Beef tartar was as good as I have tasted.
Chicken Paillard was interesting while the steak frites was good but nothing special.
The overall experience was very pleasant and the service was very good. Also it is located very close to the new York high line which is well worth having a walk along.

Olives
by supershag on Jun.07, 2012, under Beer, Boston, Champagne, Chicken, Cocktails, Coffee, Foods, Music, Parking/Valet, Salmon, Tartar, Tuna, Wine
The flag ship of the Todd English empire has reopened in Charlestown . Not too different from the original but I wonder if anyone else has noticed how the new layout has increased the noise levels. Time for some sound proofing me thinks.
So even though the place is loud the food was great. Very rich a la Todd English but really good . In fact I forgot to photograph the food so it must have good. Please make do with the menu.
.
This place is not cheap but Definately worth a visit.

Juvia
by supershag on May.09, 2012, under Beer, Champagne, Cocktails, Free Wi-Fi, Happening, Miami, Music, Roof Deck/Patio, Salmon, Swanky, Tuna, Veal, Wine
Juvia is actually located in the funkiest car-park I have ever seen. It is located at the end of Lincoln Road that is furthest away from the beach. It features
Inside and outside dining.
Hard to describe the atmosphere. It is cool and funky but really feels like an upmarket beach bar/restaurant. Now do not take this the wrong way the place is fantastic and you could wear your tux or shorts( actually don’t know if there is a dress code) and be totally comfortable here.
So what about the food. It was fantastic. Everything we had was excellent and the prices while not cheap were not outrageous.
Short ribs.
Once again make this one of your first stops on your next Miami visit.
I suggest before you leave grab a mojito and savor the night time beach view.

Fig and Olive in Melrose Place is the latest offshoot of the famous NewYork
eaterie. It is well worth checking out the neighborhood as Melrose Place is really happening at the moment.
Decor is very cool and the outside tasting bar looks like a fun place to hang out.
Tuna carpaccio was so good nearly forgot to take a photo.
Tuna and scallop salad was also great.
Coffee great as well.

Anchor & Hope
by supershag on May.04, 2012, under Beer, Champagne, Fish and Chips, Happening, Parking/Valet, Salmon, San Francisco, Wine
Anchor and Hope is located in an old mechanics shop in San Fran.(very like most of the restaurants in Palermo Soho Buenos Aires)
The space is actually very cool.
The menu was supposed to be an Oyster and Stout happy hour as enjoyed by the good ole Irish folks at home on the old sod. With these prices however I do not think that many of them would be too happy.
Sat at the bar which gave me a good view of the oysters being prepared.
No Chimay but this stuff was very good.

Chateau Marmont
by supershag on May.04, 2012, under Champagne, Cocktails, Los Angeles, Parking/Valet, Swanky, Wine
Another must see in L.A.I don’t really get this place. Looks like my grandmothers front room and not really the friendliest of greeters.
The place does have some history though.
When we did get seated even though we were told we may be removed in an hour the surrounding were pleasant enough.
Had a great bottle of champagne which nearly took up the hour on our meter, but thankfully we finished before we were forcibly removed.
A lot of famous people have stayed here and some have actually ended their party here.
Not somewhere where I shall rush back but the guy getting us a cab was great.
