XO Hotel Le St James Montreal
by supershag on Feb.14, 2012, under Bellini, Champagne, Chicken Club, Cocktails, Free Wi-Fi, Irish Coffee, Montreal, QC - Canada, Music, Salmon, Swanky, Wine
Another one of my favorite hang- outs in Montreal
On my last visit I spent a lot of time perched at this bar working on the development of the Supershag Empire
The restaurant is very grand but I have never felt out of place in my jeans and t-shirt.
The food is great. The bread is brill.
I always have a latte in a large bowl with a straw and Jamesons . The perfect Beefoe latte. The one that I had here was so good that I forgot to take a photo.so here is the chicken club.
Salmon was pretty good as well.
Always worth a visit.

Le Globe Montreal
by supershag on Feb.09, 2012, under Beer, Champagne, Free Wi-Fi, Happening, Montreal, QC - Canada, Music, Swanky, Tartar, Wine
Le Globe, the first restaurant I can actually remember visiting in Montreal in the mid 90s.(my god that was in the last century)
If you want a really cool ambience this is the place to go.
The beautiful people of Montreal cam be seen here. (though they did let Pee Wee in)
Back in my formative years in Liverpool Sapporo was the full hit. (that means good ). So of course they serve it here, not in the non descript bottles but these great designer cans.
Jamiroquai on the play list what more can you ask for.
Ah food that is the reason we are here. Well I have to report that it was excellent . The venison and beef tartar starters were excellent. The steak main course was fantastic. The gluten and diary free salmon was described as the best ever. Just pay this place a visit. It is brill.
B&O American Brasserie Baltimore
by supershag on Feb.02, 2012, under Baltimore, Beer, Champagne, Cocktails, Free Wi-Fi, Happening, Pork, Tuna
This Brasserie is located in the Hotel Monaco in downtown Baltimore . It is a Brasserie with a southern twist. You can obtain free Wi-fi if you are a Kimpton Hotel member. ( this membership is free and you receive an option to sign -up online.
The atmosphere was very soothing especially in the bar.
For starters I had pork ribs which were excellent.
Main course was tuna and once again this was excellent
The bar was very well stocked. I had my favorite Chimay beer and the cocktails were very interesting.
No obvious downsides to this place. Well worth a visit.

Local 1110 Savannah
by supershag on Jan.29, 2012, under Beer, Bellini, Champagne, Happening, Roof Deck/Patio, Steak Frites, Swanky, Wine
What a great restaurant . Not at all what I expected to find in Savannah. Located at the tip of Forsyth Park it is located in a charming old building.
The interior is very cool in a very contemporary way and would not look out of place in New York.
I really liked the lighting which created a very soothing atmosphere
This is not a cheap restaurant with prices on a par with Boston . The food is all locally produced(well most if it is) and the service was excellent.
They carried my favorite beer which made the visit worthwhile by itself.
I started with quail stuffed with chorizo which was excellent.
My main course was steak frites.once again this was great.
After dinner I had a couple of drinks on the roof-deck which was very cool.
The trees surrounding the roof were very interesting. Oaks covered with Spanish moss.
Just visited again in Jan 2013.
Some new dishes which did not disappoint.
Deffo 2 thumbs up from me.
Strawberry salad was very good.
Coq au Vin was not that tasteful at the beginning . As the meal cooled it became more flavorful . Quite light not as rich as the usual coq au vin offering.
Tile fish with curry was an interesting combo but tasted very nice.

Chila Buenos Aires
by supershag on Dec.30, 2011, under Buenos Aires, Champagne, Music, Octopus, Salmon, Scallops, Swanky, Wine
Chila is located in Puerto Madero in Buenos Aires. This is the old dock area that has been gentrified and now houses numerous restaurants and boutique hotels.
The restaurant has a modern feel and the ambience is very pleasant .
We were lucky enough to be seated by the window looking onto the dock which is the prime seating area.
The food was good but I felt overpriced. I had a risotto with scallops and shrimp. Very nice but not the generous portion I have been getting used to I’m Argentina.
The staff were very helpful but unfortunately we could not get the free Wi-Fi to work. While Chila was not my cup of tea it would be worth a visit for the service and view alone.

Fervor Buenos Aires
by supershag on Dec.29, 2011, under Beer, Buenos Aires, Champagne, City, Foods, Free Wi-Fi, Restaurants, Scallops, Steak, Swanky, Wine
Fervor is located in the heart of Recoleta behind the Alvear Palace. It is probably the most traditional restaurant that I have visited in Buenos Aires.Set out like a typical french bistro it is quite formal while not being stiff.
Christmas Eve is the big deal in Argentina .Most restaurants shut down and the ones that remain open lay on a fixed Christmas menu.
This is an expensive night to go out, similer to New Years Eve in the States. The menu here was around 130 US dollars per person. This included 5 courses and an open bar.I discovered a new sparkling wine which was very good.
The food was plain but plentiful and very tasty.I especially liked the country style pate.
Probably not a place that I would go to on a normal night but can thoroughly recommend Christmas Eve.
Aldos Buenos Aires
by supershag on Dec.29, 2011, under Beer, Buenos Aires, Champagne, Free Wi-Fi, Happening, Music, Steak, Wine, Wine/Liquor Store
The Moreno Hotel in San Telmo houses this new restaurant and vinoteca. Not as visually stunning as some of the restaurants in Buenos Aires more of Baltezaar meets Vinny Ts.
The bar area is very nice , not pretensious at all.
The food is simple, well priced and very good.
The beef tenderloin wrapped in bacon with French fries was delicious .
The local market menu is small but covers all the basics like this sea bass.
< As this doubles up as a wine store buying by the bottle is actually quite cheap and of course the range is very comprehensive. Buying by the glass is very limited and not cost effective so I tried a beer. My first from Chile.
Sound system here was excellent. Soundtrack was good and very jazzy.
Crizia Buenos Aires
by supershag on Dec.28, 2011, under Buenos Aires, Champagne, City, Free Wi-Fi, Happening, Music, Scallops, Sole, Tuna, Wine
Crizia is a seafood restaurant that prides itself on its oysters.I do not go out of my wy to eat them so you will have to visit yourself and decide if they are any good.Luckily enough the menu was full of other good things.
The actual restaurant is very cool and once again seems to have been built in an old car shop. Now while it may not mean much to most people these structures are awful for acoustics.the music was very cool but I just could not hear it.
Any business is only as good as its staff and the bar-tender/waiter here was brill.(that is very good in English). He explained the menu, the drinks and also was brave enough to say that the most expensive item on the menu was not the best in his opinion.
As I am writing this a week after I visited this restaurant I cannot entirely remember the exact composition of this dish but it was very good.
This was the shrimp and scallop erviche and it was really good. While not startling I did enjoy the experience here so I would recommend it.
Tegui Buenos Aires
by supershag on Dec.28, 2011, under Buenos Aires, Champagne, Free Wi-Fi, Happening, Restaurants, Roof Deck/Patio, Steak, Swanky, Tartar, Wine
Any restaurant where you have to ring the door bell to get in must have something going for it.
Very like its sister restauant,Casa Cruz,Tegui is very glam inside.
The food is excellent. My veal tartar was great. One of the best I have ever eaten.
I almost forgot. The bread was the best I had ever eaten.(that is if you like nutty bread)
Which gets me to the main course.I had the steak which was very good. One thing that is interesting here is that the chef usually does steak medium. This was rare and wonderful.Always state how you want your food cooked as I noticed that the waiter will not always ask.
The wine list was very comprehensive and if you can grab a drink in the outside garden before you leave.Definately gets 2 thumbs up from me.
M Buenos Aires
by supershag on Dec.28, 2011, under Buenos Aires, Ceviche, Champagne, Free Wi-Fi, Happening, Music, Restaurants, Salmon, Sushi, Swanky, Wine
Absolutely stunning building.
This was an old winery that has been converted into a bar and restaurant . Inside the curved ceilings really remind me of the Albert Dock in Liverpool .
So the building is stunning and the food
is of a similar quality. The sushi while expensive was excellent.
Before you leave check out the bar.
