VICTOR – Le Germain, Toronto
by supershag on Oct.16, 2013, under Dessert, Free Wi-Fi, Restaurants, Stay Here If You Can, Swanky, Toronto, ON - Canada, Vegetarian, Wine
Victor restaurant was a pleasant surprise for my stay at Hotel Le Germain in Toronto, it really held up to the five star experience the hotel gives.
They offer a tasting menu and al la carte, as well, if you are headed to the theater they have an option that will give you the full experience with a faster turn around.
We ended up ordering a few options across the menu so we could have a variety of tastes throughout the evening.
‘Little Portugal’ Lobster and Chicken Cataplana, chorizo, rice and saffron
‘Les Miserables’ Duck Breas ‘Al’Orange’ Pomme fondant and carrots.
Sushi Pizza 2013! Sashimi, lobster salad, roe, avocado, crisp rice and wasabi-miso dressing.
Seasonal Vegetable Casserole
The night finished with a tasty takeaway left by our waiter of caramel covered popcorn squares.
The space is small and gets really busy as the night goes on, I highly recommend making a reservation at Victor Restaurant in Toronto’s Hotel Le Germain so you can ensure you’ll be able to get in.
Asia de Cuba

Asia de Cuba is one of my fav places to eat in Los Angeles.
Located in the funky Mondrian hotel it offers inside and outside dining.
The food is Cuban fusion and is outstanding.
Calamari salad is the signature starter and is a must. It is a big portion so can be shared.
The view of LA is incredible .
The mojitos are very good as well. Especially the mango .
The steak was so good that I forgot to photograph it before I started eating.
The wild decor almost has an Alice in Wonderland feel.
While this is not a cheap place it is definately worth a visit.

Long Bar Oak Kitchen – Boston Copley Plaza
by supershag on Oct.18, 2012, under Boston, Happening, Hotels
Stopped in to the newly renovated Fairmont Copley Hotel, previously the ‘Oak Bar’ now called to ‘Long Bar’ with branding of the Oak Kitchen for lunch during the work week. The space is new and fresh with a hint of the classic with the remaining ceiling work that has been left intact. Our meal started with a parmesan role with an aioli sauce.
I had the halibut as my main dish, minus the breadcrumbs and with the butter sauce on the side. It was delicious as it came with nice spices and served over sautéed vegetables.
Stop by the newly renovated Copley Plaza Hotel’s Oak Long Bar + Kitchen for lunch or a nice glass of wine.
Bristol Lounge – Four Seasons Hotel Boston
by supershag on Oct.14, 2012, under Boston, Dairy Free, Free Wi-Fi, Gluten Free, Hotels, Irish Coffee, Restaurants, Swanky, Tartar, Vegetarian, Wine
At the time of our dining Zagat rating for this restaurant was 26 (out of 30) we arrived in between meals and had access to the bar menu which did not disappoint.
We took up two seats at the end of the bar and quickly made friends with the bar tender, who used to be a wine distributer. We started with an Irish Coffee and a nice Pinot Noir (I forget the name, started with an S and was fantastic!)
For our meals we had the Turkey BLT with delicious fresh chips (image above) and the Watermelon Salad with Greek Yogurt Sorbet, Feta, Mint, Olive Oil, accompanied by the Tuna Taco which was Chili Marinated Ahi, Guacamole, Pickled Jicama. I was certainly full by the end of it. Important to note the taco’s are very small. Also I found it charming that they offer many gluten free options as well as gluten free bread to start!
This restaurant is somewhat of an establishment in Boston, great service, excellent food and a fantastically comfortable atmosphere. Stop into Boston Four Seasons Bristol Lounge at any hour and you won’t be disappointed.
CLINK. at the Liberty Hotel – Boston, MA
by supershag on Oct.13, 2012, under Bellini, Boston, Cocktails, Gluten Free, Happening, Hotels, Mimosa, Novelty, Parking/Valet, Restaurants, Scallops, Steak, Tartar, Wine
We actually started the evening with a few drinks at ‘The Lobby Bar’ in the atrium of the Liberty Hotel. This building was previously “Boston’s Charles Street Jail which had been opened in 1851 as an experiment in prison reformation and closed more than a century later after a judge ruled conditions there were inhumane.” (NPR article)
The building re-opened in September of 2007 after a five-year, $150 million renovation, as the Liberty Hotel. Our night started with a ‘Harvest Margarita’ pictured below and a Besame, both were delicious.
We then moved into CLINK. to commence our dinner.
I was very happy to see they offered gluten free bread to start our dinner (along with normal bread)
We also found an exquisite bottle of wine to take us through the evening, it’s called Darioush (neither of us had it previously and it pleasantly surprised us.)
In regard to food, we started with the Beef Tartar (a little too pureed for our preference) though the ice cream on top was a unique pairing that went well with the overall dish.
When asked between the Tuna Sashimi and the Octopus with Yucca, the waiter said, hands down if you like Octopus this is the best in Boston. While it was good especially when compared with others I’ve had in Boston, I have had better in Argentina.
Our main dishes were another beef dish, and the scallops, both were good, but nothing off the chart. My scallops were especially interesting as they were accompanied by a mix of raw mushrooms and carrots, thankfully I like raw, for those who don’t this may be a little to overpowering to be bearable.
Overall, dinner was nice, the atmosphere entertaining and the wine and cocktails even better. We arrived for a 6pm reservation, the place was packed (Saturday night) by the time we left which was around 9PM. I recommend booking a reservation for CLINK. and heading over early to get a drink at the Lobby Bar and take the architecture and crowd in at your leisure.
Atlanta Grill Ritz Carlton Atlanta
by supershag on Oct.11, 2012, under Atlanta, Beer, Free Wi-Fi, Hotels, Irish Coffee, Music, Parking/Valet, Roof Deck/Patio, Steak Frites, Swanky, Wine
This Ritz is located on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta.
This ritz is actually very modern inside but the Atlanta Grill is very traditional both inside and out.
The place to eat is this outside balcony right on peachtree street. It is very amusing as some of the locals are very colorful .
Inside the atmosphere is what you would expect at the Ritz.
The Irish coffee was excellent.
The beer menu was quite extensive.
I plumped for the beer tasting menu. Very good.
We visited mid afternoon so the menu was a bit limited.
Steak frites was very basic but excellent.
So nothing out of the ordinary but everything that you would expect from the Ritz brand.

Suka is the in house restaurant at the Sanderson Hotel in London.
The set-up is ultra cool with part of the restaurant situated in this covered zen garden.
The other part is at the end if the very famous Long Bar.
The food was fantastic . No idea what is was but fantastic all the same
Check out the restrooms. These are the gents.
Don’t normally do dessert but the sorbet was quite exquisite .
Hotel Gault Montreal
by supershag on Feb.14, 2012, under Montreal, QC - Canada, Stay Here If You Can
My fav hotel in Montreal.
Located in the heart of Old Montreal I believe the building was a YWCA at one time.
The hotel is very small and the rooms have a very loft like feel.
The level if service is fantastic . Nothing seems to be too much for the staff.
The hotel is dog friendly , has a small gym ,is very contemporary but retains a certain old world charm.
Red Resto and Lounge Hotel Madero Buenos Aired
by supershag on Dec.15, 2011, under Buenos Aires, Cocktails, Gluten Free, Salmon, Stay Here If You Can, Sushi, Swanky, Tuna, Wine
As we were staying at the Hotel Madero seemed only right to check out the in house restaurant of celebrity chef Stephen Jung.We had the salmon and tuna and when they heard part of our group had a gluten allergy the promptly accommodated with a sushi menu. It was ok but nothing to write home about. The one thing that is really good though is the cocktail ‘Un Hombre’. The drink is sweet and almost like a dessert by itself.
